The USA won its second Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup qualifier in 24 hours, taking the title in Gijon (2 August) the day after winning at Hickstead.

Really proud

It was a different team competing in a different division however, with Ashley Bond, Catherine Pasmore, Quentin Judge and Georgina Bloomberg flying out to Spain to take part in the sixth leg of the Europe Division 2 series.

“We all watched Hickstead yesterday and we were really proud of them, so we wanted to compete with them here today and show them we could do it too!” said Georgina, who jumped the team’s only double clear onboard Juvina.

America won with a total of eight faults, well ahead of the Swiss team in second place on 13. Britain was a close third with 15 faults.

Renwick retires

Laura Renwick (Bintang ll) had one down in the first round but retired in round two. Holly Gillot (Dougie Douglas) had just one time fault in each round.

H&C blogger Yasmin Pinchen (Ashkari) also had the one time fault in the second round, but had two down first time out. Robert Bevis (Pebbles IV), who provided the drop score of nine faults in round one, went on to jump the only clear in round two.

While 11 teams competed, only Italy and Norway were chasing points. The Italian team clinched the maximum 100 points after they came fourth.
