Orphaned rare breed donkey looking for love

A rare breed donkey who recently lost her mother is looking for adoption.

Orphaned

Seven-month-old Arya, a part-bred Poitou, is the newest addition to the Redwings Adoption Club. The breedoriginates from France and there are only 400 left in the world.

Arya –who is named after a character in a Game of Thrones – arrived at Redwings with her mum Millie in August 2014, when she was just one-month-old. The pair came with their companions, mother and son Adel and Merlin.

Sadly, Millie, who was a full registered Poitou, suffered from on-going lameness issues, and in January 2015 she was put to sleep, leaving Arya an orphan.

Adorable

Donkeys form very close bonds, but Arya coped with the loss thanks to the support of her companions and Redwings’ care team. The Poitou trio have now taken up permanent residence at the charity’s Oxhill visitor centre in Warwickshire.

“Arya’s heartfelt tale, bold nature and adorable character make her the most perfect, fluffy addition to the Redwings Adoption Club”, said press and communications manager Lucinda King.
