Laura Collett has continued her great form, coming second in the Event Rider Masters in Arville, Belgium riding London 52.
Technical track
Laura was runner-up to Australia’s Chris Burton and Polystar I, who won the class with a margin of over eight penalty points.
This was the first time London 52 had completed a three-star event and the nine-year-old gelding made light work of the technical cross-county track. The pair finished just three seconds over the optimum time, and went clear in the showjumping, to finish on a score of 32.3pen.
‘Pure class’
“A little speechless after London 52 finishing second in the Event Rider Masters at Arville,” said Laura on her Facebook page. “He has shown pure class and fought so hard round the toughest track he’s ever seen! He had no experience to jump round there but trusted me 110%”
This great result follows Laura’s second place at Luhmühlen CCI4* with Mr Bass, who was competing in his first four-star.
Chris Burton and Polystar I put in a foot perfect performance across all three phases to finish on an impressive 23.6pen and take leg three of the 2018 Event Rider Masters.
Fastest man in eventing
Living up to his ‘fastest man in eventing’ title, Chris came home two seconds under the optimum time on the cross-country to become only the second person ever to make the time in the CIC3* at Arville.
“I’m thrilled, he gave me such a lovely ride in all three phases,” said Chris. “He’s a fast horse and he loves galloping, so I figured there was no point in two of us pulling!”
Australia’s Bill Levett and ERM regular Shannondale Titan were third on 32.3pen.
The Event Rider Masters now heads to Barbury, Wiltshire (7-8 8th July 2018).
