Week Highlights: What Not to Miss

Wednesday, 11 February launches H.H. The Amir’s Sword at the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab with the first international classes. Thursday, 12 February features the Prix Hermès Sellier, delivering a showcase of showjumping bringing together luxury and sport. The key sporting moment comes on Friday, 13 February, headlined by the H.H. The Amir’s Sword CSI5* Grand Prix, followed by the Grand Ceremony. The week concludes on Saturday, 14 February with National Rider Grand Prix and a Family Day atmosphere on site, with activities for children alongside the evening sport.

A Storytelling Grand Ceremony: Sea, Desert, Horse, Sword

Friday will offer visitors amazing entertainment, with a Grand Ceremony conceived as a cinematic, heritage-led arena experience that brings Qatar’s identity to life through light, music, choreography and a drone show. It is designed as an immersive moment before the sport begins, and will be very engaging for a wide audience, setting the atmosphere for the entire event. Across a sequence of bold visual scenes, the ceremony moves from Qatar’s roots to the spirit of the present day, drawing on national symbols and ceremonial storytelling, and building toward the meaning of the Amir’s Sword as a mark of honor and responsibility. The narrative culminates in a final reveal above the arena, creating a clear, shareable highlight that naturally leads into the first competition moments and places the show as not only a sporting event but also as a cultural occasion.

The wider venue experience is designed as a premium yet family-friendly destination, with cafés, hospitality options, and children’s entertainment, so the atmosphere extends well beyond the competitive programme.
