Guy Williams has won the Lummen CSI3* Grand Prix in Belgium, with fellow Brit Holly Gillott taking second place.

Tough competition

It was a tough competition, with twelve riders making it through to the jump-off and a further eight producing double clears.

However, none could match Guy’s fast time of 36.60sec with the 11-year-old gelding Zaire. Holly and Dougie Douglaswere just behind on 36.85sec.

Both riders were almost a second faster than Karel Cox andGentleman, competing on home turf, who took third place.

In an unusual turn of events, fourth place was shared with New Zealand rider Bruce Goodwin (Cayenne 175) and Frank Schuttert (Winchester) for the Netherlands who had the same time of 37.75sec.

Team Williams

It has been a great show for team Williams, with Guy winning the small Grand Prix with Casper De Muze in the CSI1* show, which was running alongside the CSI3* at Lummen.

One of his pupils also won the one-star Grand Prix when he was the fastest of seven double clears with Flair van Overis Z. Fifteen-year-old William Rekert is based with Guy in France.
