Grief Awareness Week with Riders Minds: Managing Grief and Loss

Riders Minds have added a section on Grief and Loss to the list of resources available on their website, in conjunction with Grief Awareness Week, which took place 2nd – 8th December 2024.

The new sympathetic and understanding content explains what grief is, the potential physical and mental effects, discusses the grieving process, and shares top tips for managing grief and loss.

Mental Health Consultant and author of the Riders Minds website content Sylvia Bruce said, “We hadn’t covered this topic before because it’s such a delicate and emotive one and it’s difficult to cover too when everyone’s experiences are unique.

However, we decided to expand our resources to cover grief and loss based on feedback from our intuitive helpline volunteers over recent months that loss – of the equine and human variety – was often behind the calls we were receiving. We hope our resource will help and support in some way those experiencing one of, if not the, most challenging of life’s events.”

Victoria Wright, Founder and Chair of Riders Minds said, “Grief is something we all experience throughout life, some experiences are expected and some blind us completely when we least expect it. It’s one of the hardest things because we all handle it so differently. We know that at some point in life we’re all going to lose something, we just don’t know how we’ll feel about that until it hits us.

We hope by providing content that can help people to understand the stages of grief, it will give support to those who need it.”
