Britain’s ladies off to good start at Blair

Britain has made a superb start to proceedings at the FEI European Eventing Championships in Blair Castle, Scotland.

At the halfway stage on day one, individual British rider Holly Woodhead leads with 31.7pen.

Riding the 11-year-old Irish Sports Horse gelding, Holly produced a polished test to score a personal best.

France’s Thibault Vallette lies second at this early stage, having scored 36.8pen on Qing de Briot.

Team talk

Kitty King was the first of the Brits to enter the Blair arena today. Riding Persimmon, Kitty has been given the role of pathfinder for the British team.

She got the team off to a good start, scoring 36.9pen to put them into third.

Individuals Sarah Bullimore (Lilly Corinne), Laura Collett (Grand Manoeuvre) and Gemma Tattersall hold fourth, fifth and eighth places respectively.

Britain’s next team rider, Nicola Wilson, is due into the arena on One Two Many at 2.24pm.

Reigning European champion Michael Jung competes at 2.40pm with the eight-year-old fischerTakinou.
