Aintree, the home of the Grand National, is best known for showcasing the most talented of Thoroughbreds. But it will be sport horses who are the focus of the day at a new auction to be held a few weeks after the world’s most famous horse race.

Entries

Brightwells is holding its first sale of potential showjumping and eventing stars at the neighbouring Aintree Equestrian Centre on Saturday 30 April.

More than 40 top quality sport horses of all ages have been entered into the sale, including horses by some of the world’s leading sires. These include horses by top showjumping stallions Indoctro, Plot Blue, Tangelo V/D Zuuthoeve and Comme Il Faut.

There are a number of ridden horses up for auction, from four-year-olds who are now ready to compete to proven older horses.

One to look out for is the aptly-named Irresistible, a three-year-old mare by Vittorio, who was the winner of a loose jumping competition in Holland this year.

Support

Brightwells has had a great reaction to the announcement of the forthcoming sale.

“I am delighted with the response we have had from both vendors and prospective buyers,” said Sarah Johnson, Brightwells Selector. “I believe this sale will become an event on everybody’s calendar, particularly in the North of England”.

The sale takes place at 6pm on Saturday 30 April, with three-year-olds loose jumped in the morning of Friday 29 April, followed by a ridden presentation.
