A muddy rescue for horse stuck in ditch

A horse has been rescued in the nick of time, after falling into a muddy ditch in Germany.

Filthy conditions

Emma Ina slipped and fell into the ditch in Hamburg, and was then unable to climb back out. From her filthy condition it was clear she had been trying for some time.

Norbert Fenske alerted the fire brigade and by the time they arrivedthe four-year-old was already up to her neck in the murky water.Fifteen firefighters worked to rescue her putting belts and hoses around her belly.

A good bath

A tractor was then used to haul her Emma Ina out of the ditch and around two hours later she was back on firm ground. The mare was unharmed by the incident – if a need of a good bath… As was Norman.
