A host of fantastic programmes which are fun, educational and awe-inspiring is set to keep Horse & Country viewers entertained throughout the month of April.

The legendary Pammy Hutton brings her wealth of knowledge to the fore in ‘Half Halt with Pammy Hutton’ – with the latest episode (available 4th April) covering lateral work. Throughout this fascinating teach-in, Pammy breaks down and simplifies lateral movements such as shoulder in, half pass and turn on the forehead – helping riders progress to a Medium level dressage test. In episode 5, due later in the month, Pammy returns to focus on the art of a successful and correct flying change.

If eventing is more of your raison d’être, then there’s another great treat in brand new series ‘4 Years to 5*’. Who better to learn from than current World Eventing Champion, Ros Canter and Team GBR trainer, Caroline Moore? This exclusive training mini-series features a wide range of topics – from introducing the young horse to skinny fences, to how to negotiate a bounce fence. It’s the ideal way to stay engaged with the sport and learn at the same time, in spite of lockdown!

Totally new is ‘The Check In’ – a show especially for these testing times, in which a Horse & Country presenter interviews some of the sector’s well-known faces by Skype. The roster includes top riders, representatives from governing bodies, charities, livery owners and equestrian brands — to see how they’re coping in the current crisis. With a whole host of guests lined up for future episodes – including, but not limited to, Alan Davies, Charlotte Dujardin, Carl Hester, Daisy Bunn, Mary King, Jay Halim, Richard Davison – it’s sure to be a really interesting insight into equestrian life at this time. The first episode is available on demand from Wednesday 1st April.

It doesn’t stop there! If you’re looking for adventure, a new feature length film ‘Mustang Ride’, sees the return of the Wilson sisters to H&C viewers’ screens. Follow their adventures as their best-laid plans are set aside and they set off into the unknown, taking wild horses on a 5,000-kilometre trip through cowboy country – from Mexico to the Canadian border.

Super groom, Alan Davies, provides a new and insightful view into his life as one of the most well-known grooms in the world, in a new three-part series exclusive to H&C subscribers from 17th April. Groom for Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin’s horses, he has a wealth of knowledge to pass on and in – ‘NAF’s Guide for Grooms with Alan Davies’ – Alan offers practical advice in answer to viewers’ questions.

Commentator, Steve Wilde fronts a four-part short series – ‘Path to Greatness’ – filmed in Wellington, Florida. Steve talks to iconic names Beezie Madden, McLain Ward and Adrienne Lyle as they discuss going that extra mile to achieve global success.

If you are a Burghley superfan, you will be jumping for joy to relive amazing footage and highlights covering 10 years from 1990 – as you watch leading riders take the honours.

Capping off a truly jam-packed April is another film ‘Race the Wild Coast 2019’ – which follows 14 riders from 9 countries as they take a on a challenge to ride 370 kilometres along tough and dangerous terrain. The troop ride four horses in their quest to win, or just finish(!), this epic race. Exclusively for H&C subscribers – this battle against the elements is not to be missed!
